Cookie Monster Cookies

An allergy-friendly twist on cookie monster cookies that are thick, chewy, and oh-so-delicious!

I'm just gonna say it... holidays with food allergies can suck (especially, holidays like Halloween that revolve around food). Even though I could bring a safe treat for myself to celebrations, it's just not the same when I'm eating something different from everyone else.

So one of the best solutions I've found is to bring something to share with everyone. Because for me, cooking for others is like a love language. And in doing so, I've become the baker of my friend group, and I kinda love that! So for one of the many Halloween parties this year, I made gluten-free cookie monster cookies, and everyone loved them.

What are Cookie Monster Cookies?

Cookie monster cookies are like a typical chocolate chip cookie but better! The dough is dyed blue and filled with dairy-free milk and white chocolate and allergy-friendly chocolate chip and 2x chocolate cookies. But this gluten-free cookie monster cookie version is gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, and nut-free! And they can be soy-free depending on the dairy-free cream cheese you use.

Cream Cheese In Cookies?

The dairy-free cream cheese in the recipe substitutes for an egg in this recipe. It provides structure to the cookie and helps create a thick, chewy texture. I used Tofutti cream cheese that’s made with a base of water, palm oil, maltodextrin, and soy protein. But if you’re looking for a soy-free option, I also like VioLife cream cheese that made with a base of water, coconut oil, potato starch

What are Your Favorite Dairy-Free Chocolate Chips?

Everything’s better with chocolate, right?! And I refuse to miss out on the deliciousness just because I’m allergic to dairy. I’ve tried so many dairy-free chocolate brands, but my favorites are Enjoy Life rice milk morsels and Thrive Market dark chocolate chips. And my favorite white chocolate chips are Enjoy Life mini white chocolate chips

How Can I Rush the Recipe?

I was there… 1 hour before the party starts and no allergy-friendly treat was ready! The good news is that you can throw all the wet and dry ingredients into a bowl and mix them together. Then fold in the allergy-friendly cookies and chocolate chips. Then place the dough in the freezer for 10 minutes.
